Telltale Games was an game developer that created the latest series of Sam & Max games. Aside from Sam & Max, their other games included The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, Minecraft Story Mode and The Wolf Among Us.

History

After LucasArts canceled the ill-fated Sam & Max: Freelance Police, some of the staff who worked on the game broke off from LucasArts to start a new company. Telltale Games was founded by Dan Connors and Kevin Bruner to create episodic adventure games, which were no longer considered viable by LucasArts. In 2005, Telltale obtained the license to Sam & Max from Steve Purcell, and proceeded to make three games (each labeled "seasons") between 2006 and 2010.

After Sam & Max: The Devil's Playhouse was released in 2010, Telltale shifted focus to more mainstream properties, such as the aforementioned The Walking Dead. Sam & Max continued to make appearances in Poker Night 1 & 2, released in 2010 and 2013 respectively.

Telltale Games closed on September 21, 2018.
