Hit the Road Characters[]

Courier[]

Cat Courier is a minor character in Sam & Max Hit the Road.

Character Description[]

The Cat Courier was hired by The Commissioner to deliver Sam & Max's next assignment, but he accidentally swallowed their orders. Max retrieves the order by gruesomely reaching down the cat's throat and pulling the paper out, the cat is then tossed off-screen and is never seen again.

Unnamed, bratty child[]

Bratty Kid is a minor character in Sam & Max Hit the Road.

Character description[]

This brat is one of the children standing in line for the Tarpit Slide at the Mount Rushmore Dinosaur Tarpit and Bungee Jumping National Park. He is very rude and disrespectful -especially to Sam. Max wants to pummel him, but Sam assure him that "puberty will be punishment enough for this squirt".

Stucky's Clerks[]

The Snuckey's Clerks are supporting characters in Sam & Max Hit the Road.

Character Details[]

All three clerks each work at a different Snuckey's gas station throughout the game. They've each been trained at Snuckey U, pride themselves at customer service, and can open any jar. At one point, Sam can visit any one of them to open the jar containing Jesse James' severed hand.

Appearance[]

Each Clerk looks almost exactly like the other, dressed as your typical soda jerk. However, each one is different in some way - one has a mustache, one has a mustache and glasses, and the third one has neither.

Trivia[]

Psychic Tool Bender[]

The Psychic Tool Bender is a minor character in Sam & Max Hit the Road.

As his name implies, he is keen on bending tools (spanners in particular) and tends to swear in almost all of his dialogue in game.

His only use in the story is to bend an ice pick into a bottle opener.

As noted in the Official Sam and Max Hit the Road Hintbook[2] he is a Swami, which is an honorific title in Hinduism.

Mrs. Vanuatoo[]

Mrs. Vanuatoo is the bigfoot wife of Vanuatoo, leader of the bigfoots.

Character detail[]

She and her husband both knew Bruno since he was a little bigfoot. She is extremely talkative and claims that many younger bigfoots are interested in her. She has a therapist, Nancy; a hair care specialist Janet; a manicurist, Kimmy; a color consultant, Katie; a chriopractor, Karen; and a niece, Jay. She is found at the Savage Jungle Inn, blocking the way to the poolside for Sam and Max, until her husband makes them honorary yeti chiefs.

Vanuatoo[]

Vanuatoo is Chief of the Bigfoots and a supporting character in Sam & Max Hit the Road.

Character detail[]

He is overly concerned about the Bigfoot Race dying out and is desperate to save his species. After Sam and Max prove themselves by detaining Conroy Bumpus and Lee-Harvey, he makes them honorary chiefs and trusts them to help appease the totem poles and save their kind. The duo succeeds, and Vanuatoo gifts them his medallion in gratitude (He also offers Sam his headdress, but Sam doesn't take it... seeing that the Chief needs it more than he does with his balding head). He then wanders off into the woods to enjoy his new life worry-free.

Appearance[]

Mr. Vanuatoo is very visibly old, with a grey beard, long fur and a balding head (seen in the ending cutscene when he takes off his headdress). He wears a medallion, made of chocolate, that he claims has been "passed down from his family for generations", and a headdress he bought at Snuckey's.

Trivia[]

  • Vanuatoo speaks in a manner similar to Jimmy Stewart.

Telltale/Skunkape Games Characters[]

Puppet President[]

"Mr President" and "The President" redirect here. For his successor, see Max. Also see Abraham Lincoln.

The Puppet President, whose full name is unknown, was the President of the United States at the beginning of Abe Lincoln Must Die!.

Character detail[]

His envolvement in the story starts when the Freelance Police find out that he has been passing a variety of insane laws. After some initial investigation, they soon conclude he has been hypnotized by Chuckles, and Max tries to knock him out. Instead of being knocked out, however, his head falls off, revealing him to be a mere puppet.

Chuckles is remarkably unbothered by this turn of events (especially for a Secret Service agent), and simply has Abraham Lincoln run for president instead.

After the events of Abe Lincoln Must Die!, his head can be seen, taken as a trophy, in Sam & Max's office's cupboard.

Trivia[]

  • He claims to be unable to understand Whizzer of the Soda Poppers, apparently having requested an interpretor to understand him, despite the fact that Whizzer speaks English fluently.
    • This is most likely a joke about Whizzer's slightly nasally voice.
  • It is unknown on what happen to the original president (likely George W. Bush), though it's possible he's missing, or was killed by Chuckles.
  • In a trailer for Beyond Time and Space, we see him trying to get his head back from Sam and Max's office.[3] He fails, and the head remains as another trophy in the closet.

Blue Slime[]

It's a slime. Clearly hostile.

Sam

The Blue Slime is an enemy that makes a brief appearance in the first season episode, Reality 2.0. It comes out of a virtual Slushie machine in Bosco's store. It is a parody of the Slime enemies in the real-world game Dragon Quest. The Blue Slime is defeated by using the Wooden Long Sword of Extreme Longness (obtained from Bosco for five Gold Coins) in an rpg-like battle. This reduces it to a puddle of "slime slime" that can be used to get the +2 Sword unstuck later on.

While easily defeated, the Blue Slime respawns as often as the player has any interest in fighting it.

Remastered Season 1[]

Trivia[]

  • In the remaster, because of the new and improved lightning, it appears as purple, but still is blue.

This Time It's Virtual Characters[]

Queen Carpathia[]

Queen Carpathia is a minor character first introduced in Sam & Max: This Time It's Virtual.

Character Detail[]

Queen Carpathia is Queen of the Rats, and self proclaimed "Sovereign of the Seven Boroughs and the Outer Kingdoms" (though neither of these locations are shown on screen or elaborated upon).

She appears to be rather self-entitled, insisting that "Lumpy" bow to her when initially met, and stating she will refuse to talk more to commoners like them after being questioned.

She was nearly run over by Teddy Tocks, but he ended up escaping the scene before she could exact revenge, leaving behind a power chip.

She speaks in the royal "we", and considers herself to be generally above others (mainly "commoners"). Despite this, she considers Sam and Max as friends, going so far as to forgive Max for failing to speak fancily towards her.

Trivia[]

  • She and Timmy Two-Teeth seem to be the only two rats who actually like Sam and Max, or at the very least are not actively antagonistic towards the duo.

Ice Imp[]

The Ice Imp is a demon in Sam & Max: This Time It's Virtual.

Traits[]

The Ice Imp is one of the demons summoned to the Nutrihole Convenience Store by the Cashier for her larping session. It appears immediately after Sam and "Lumpy" defeat Hodad the Devourer. It wastes no time eating the frozen treats out of the freezers. If you disturb it, it throws blue fireballs at you. The player tricks it into eating a microwaved burrito on a stick, which causes him to spontaneously combust and burn into nothing.

Appearance[]

The imp resembles a short skeleton with viking armor.

Hodad the Devourer[]

Hodad the Devourer is a demon in Sam & Max: This Time It's Virtual.

Traits[]

Hodad is one of the demons summoned to the Nutrihole Convenience Store by the Cashier for her larping session. Once it appears, it wastes no time devouring everything on the shelves (Hence its name, Hodad the devourer) and if it is disturbed, it will start throwing items at the player. According to the Monster Manual, Hodad will pop if it gets too full too fast, so "Lumpy" feeds it shaken-up Dr. Dills soda cans, while Sam reads binding words to seal the deal, causing Hodad to explode.

Appearance.[]

Hodad bears a striking resemblance to Todd, only smaller, is purple, and isn't wearing armor.

Cereal Ghoul[]

The Cereal Ghoul is a demon introduced in Sam & Max: This Time It's Virtual.

Traits[]

The Cereal Ghoul is one of the demons accidentally summoned to the Nutrihole Convenience Store by the Cashier for her larping session. It appears immediately after Sam and "Lumpy" defeat the Ice Imp, with Sam noting that encounters such as these usually come in sets of three. The Ghoul starts pillaging the cereals soon after being summoned, and Max theorizes that he's just looking for specific cereal prizes. If you disturb him, he will shoot blue fireballs at you. The player defeats the Ghoul by spraying him with milk using a water gun, causing him to completely melt.

Appearance[]

The Cereal Ghoul looks like a demonic skeleton with no legs, wrapped up in a tattered cloak, with glowing green eyes.

Todd[]

Todd is a minor character and major demon from This Time It's Virtual.

Traits[]

Todd is one of the demons who gets summoned by the cashier at the neighborhood convenience store. Sam and Max, along with the player, attempt to find a way to stop Todd while he scans random items in search the the "Mark of the Beast". By pouring a bottle of St. Mike's Holy Water into a Shlurpee, the player is able to freeze the demon after he pops it into his mouth. After giving Max a scared blade form a box of cereal, the player throws Max at Todd and the demon is shattered to bits. Alas, Todd's malevolent spirit ends up taking possession of Max's body. Using a bunch of hula hoops, the player drags the possessed bunny down to earth while Sam looks up the proper incantations. Using the sacred blade and the right incantation, Sam and player are able to exorcise Todd once and for all.

Unseen characters[]

This is a list of all characters who are mentioned in the text of Sam & Max, but never seen (not including the Commissioner).

  • A burglar robbing Bosco's in Hit the Road. We never see inside the store, but the robber does have spoken lines. He makes fun of Sam and Max... Max makes him regret it.

  • Jennie Tallarico, mentioned only as a young girl. Apparently had a crush on Max during middle school, which Max potentially claims to reciprocate after the timeline is altered.
  • Dorris, Flint Paper's allergy specialist.
  • Debbie, mentioned by Max in This Time It's Virtual. Apparently met, and later ignored, Sam at an unknown health club.
