"Lumpy" is the anonymous player character from This Time It's Virtual.
Traits[]
Since “Lumpy” is a fill-in for the player, the character is mostly a blank slate and therefore has no established personality or looks. They are supposedly unattractive, although since most of the comments come from Max, it’s unknown if they are to be taken seriously - Sasha notes that they have a "Salvadore Dali thing" going on with their face, while Sam says they "try not to stare".
As they're often called "kid" and "junior" by Sam, it's implied they might be younger than them. Though, with Sam and Max being at least fifty years old, that would make sense.[1]
Lumpy has no set personality, as they are meant to be a blank slate for the player to project onto. The only actions they take without direct player input are deciding to join the Freelance Police in the first place, and following Sam and Max to various locations around the city, both of which are assumed to be things the player would want to do anyway.
Additionally, their appearance is entirely up to the player, the appearance of their hands is dependent on the player's own customization of them, and their real name will always be the player's username.
